About
Quyên TRUONG
Born in Vietnam and raised in Connecticut, Quyên earned her Bachelor's in Visual Arts at Brown University. Quyên is an award-winning, nationally-recognized fine artist who has exhibited in galleries across the United States. She is particularly interested in the ways in which art can create spaces for meaningful discourse. The paintings she created to elucidate her father's seven years of imprisonment in Vietnamese Re-Education Camps have been integrated into the Choices Program at Brown University as part of a national curricula to teach students about unintended consequences of war.
Artist statement
Quyên’s art translates stories across language barriers, cultivates community, and fosters connections. Inspired by human stories, social movements, and migration patterns such as those in the Vietnamese diaspora, Quyên’s artwork is informed by her perspectives as a refugee.
